1971-1977 Freelance planner and consultant, engaged in projects concerning urban renewal and urban development

        1976 Doctorate in social sciences (PhD), University of Bremen,

        1977 State exam: graduate civil servant (Bauassessor)

as of 1977 Lecturer at the Wiesbaden College and the Johann Wolfgang Goethe – University in Frankfurt am Main

as of 1978 Senior researcher at the German Institute for Urban Affairs, the central research and consultative institute for German cities (until 2009)

as of 1985 Head of the Cologne Department of the institute, running and managing a variety of projects on urban and regional development (policies), mostly with international perspective. Broad range of facilitation and consultation activities for local authorities. Numerous publications and lectures, also in many other European and non – European countries.
